Summer vacation is almost over! We are beginning school here at the Harper Hullaballoo on Monday morning! Sean painted our tiny little mud room/school room and I have been organizing and preparing for our 3rd grader and our Kindergartener! I've made the room off limits this weekend for Beckett and Helen so that some of the new decorations will be a surprise for them. Not that Beckett will care that much, but Helen is SO excited about starting school and many of the charts and posters are geared toward the activities we will be doing for Kindergarten. Anyway, stay tuned for some first day of school pics very soon! In the meantime, I need to catch up on a few activities that we have enjoyed these last couple of weeks of our summer break.
A couple of weeks ago, Beckett's friend Nathanael invited him to come to his grandparent's house to spend the day on the lake. Lucky for us, Helen, Will and I were invited to come too! Here they are on the boat getting ready to head out for some tubing time! That is Nathanael in the front with Beckett and then Wheat, River and Lake are behind them. These guys have a blast together!
After some time out on the boat, they had a blast jumping off the dock and swimming! Fun times!
There was a slide on the dock and it took Helen a long time to be ready to slide down it and land in the lake. She spent a lot of time sitting on the top of the slide, contemplating the trip down!Fortunately, Kaelyn is SUCH a good friend and is SO patient with Helen. She held Helen's hand and jumped off the side of the dock time after time to get her "warmed up" and before long, you couldn't keep Helen off of the slide! She also got to go tubing behind the boat! Lots of firsts for Helen that day!
Will was there too! No boats or lake time for him, but he and the little guys had fun playing in the little pool and with the water hose!
When we returned from our weekend trip to Brentwood, we met up with our friends the Pridmores. Beckett and their son, Will became good friends when they lived here, but now they live in south FLA. Will's dad was on staff at our church and then left to plant a church in FLA. Beckett has missed his friend Will, so when we found out that they would be in town for a few days, we snagged Will and had him stay with us for a couple of nights! Here is a picture of Matt, Will and Beckett....the three muskateers....re-united! These guys made the most of their time together......lots of Wii time, a great afternoon on the lake, a bon-fire, smores and firecrackers. Doesn't get much better than that!
And here is my little ballerina. Helen began ballet lessons last Monday and she loved it! She wore her leotard all day and didn't think that 3:45 would EVER get here. We had a little photo session before she went to class. I've got LOTS to learn about ballet! I am quite certain that Helen will keep me informed! I mean, she is seriously INTO this! :) So happy for her!
I found this book a couple of weeks ago for $3 and I picked it up for her. I read it to her not long before we left for class and in the back of the book there was a little pocket with a ballet slipper charm bracelet. It is so cheap and will probably turn brown if it doesn't break first, but you would have thought I gave her a million dollars. She was thrilled with her gift and we have read the book over and over. Sometimes it's just the little things......
So those are just a few pictures from our last couple of weeks. We went to the dollar movie and did a few other fun "last week of summer vacation" activities this past week. It has been a fun summer! Beckett isn't quite ready for it to end because he knows that the mornings of lying around and getting to watch too much "Phineas and Ferb" are OVER! Yay for schedules! Helen is excited to be starting Kindergarten and I'm looking forward to teaching her to read! I've got some fun activities planned for Will, as well. It's going to be a fun school year!
